Many women struggle with self-loathing or feeling “less than.”  Others are consumed with anxiety, worry, or depression.  Many lives feel full of struggle and darkness.  Some are trapped by problems they cannot solve. However, I know that each woman is a masterpiece, created by God, unique and precious. For each of them, He has a plan.

To each of them, He offers hope, peace, and joy.

I provide Christian counseling and discipleship to women. My second Master’s Degree is in Human Services Counseling, and I am a member of the American Association of Christian Counselors.

My name is Jonelyn Beth Philip.  Where did I get my name? My grandparents were John and Evelyn.  My parents took those two names, squished them together, and created Jonelyn.  I have also felt pleased to have such an unusual name and to be named for my grandparents, even if no school teacher has ever pronounced it correctly!

Like most women, I have experienced both tragedy and triumph in my life.  I know what it is like to suffer loss and to experience moments of joy.  I also know what it is like to have life speeding along at a breakneck speed, just hanging on and trying to keep my head above water.  I have lived as a follower of God and have also turned away to follow my own path.  (Hint – with Him is better.)

Previously, my professional background was in corporate America, where I worked as a trainer, business consultant, and manager.  Companies where I have worked include Western Geophysical (oil & gas), xnet, inc. (consulting), Disney (entertainment), and TJ Maxx (retail).  During a two-year break from corporate America, I worked as the children’s ministry director for Real Life Christian Church – Mount Dora. Through the years, I have also enjoyed stints of entrepreneurship through direct sales organizations such as Mary Kay, Discovery Toys, and Neora.

In my family life, I have been married and divorced. For five years, I was a stay-at-home wife. During my two years away from corporate America, I homeschooled my son.  My children have attended both public and private schools.

I have two amazing adult children whom I treasure.  When not working, I will likely spend time with them or several close female friends. You may also find me in costume at a historical event.  Annually, I attend the Renaissance Festival, Jane Austen Fest, and numerous Daughters of the American Revolution events.

In addition to volunteering in many capacities through the churches I have attended, I have had other volunteer opportunities. I served as both a Boy Scout leader and the church liaison for our Boy Scout troop. Our local crisis pregnancy center has an annual Walk for Life where I am the church liaison.  I am a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, a huge nationwide volunteer organization.

My undergraduate degree is in Russian Studies, and I spent a summer at the university in Leningrad (St. Petersburg), Russia. While completing my MBA, I participated in a two-week business training program in Berlin, Germany. I have also visited Sweden, Mexico, Greece, Turkey, Egypt, and Israel as a tourist.

My purpose is to hear you and point you to the one who can heal you.

"For I know the plans I have for you" declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you, and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." (Jeremiah 29:11)
